There are so many things to do while you stay in Somerset; however, the limestone caves of Wookey Hole is one of our favourites. You can explore the wonders of the Wookey Hole Caves when you take a trip down to the South West of England.
This blog post will provide you with the information you need to book a trip to Wookey Hole Caves from the Apple Tree Hotel. It will also explain why you should visit this spectacular attraction, with a few tips on how you can make it even more special.
Apple Tree Hotel is surrounded by farmland and is nestled at the foot of the Quantock Hills. From Apple Tree Hotel to Wookey Hole Caves it takes approximately 1 hour by car; however, if you are feeling adventurous, you could walk the 9 hours (we don’t advise that trip though).
You could also stop by the Caves on the way down to the hotel as it makes a great pit stop during your journey.
There are so many hidden treasures inside the world-famous caves, including the witch’s kitchen, the great hall, hyenas den and many more. The caves combine the beauty of the river that flows through parts of the cave, with pagan and Christian legends.
Events and activities
Along with the wonders of the caves, some functions and attractions occur in and around the caves. The Wookey Hole circus show, for example, takes place at different times of the year, including the Easter Holidays and Summer Holidays. You and your family will be on the edge of the seat as the performers seemingly dance through the air.
Other wonders of the caves include the cave-aged cheese, the cave museum and the magical mirror maze. The Wookey Witch might even make an appearance as you wander around the caves. If this all sounds too hectic, you can relax and unwind in the mystic fairy garden where you can spot dragons, elves and fairies, of course.
